The Kimye Effect

Kim Kardashian may feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Her dream of one day gracing the cover of the Guru of fashion magazines has finally come true and according to Anna Wintour, her decision was not based on Kanye West's plea but simply because of Kimye's popularity in the media and society. In a statement she wrote:

"Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it. I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?)

As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancĂ©e on Vogue’s cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true.

There’s barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian Wests haven’t been able to master, and for good reason: Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world’s spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that."

Pharrell & Adidas Collaborate on New Deal

The well-known style icon and the Adidas brand confirmed that they would be partnering to bring the collection out in Summer 2014. The apparel line will include Pharrell's Bionic Yarn; which uses debris from the Ocean and turns it into usable materials.

Pharrell is definitely not new to the fashion world having collaborated with Reebok in the past for his popular Ice Cream sneaker line, as well as Louis Vuitton, A Bathing Ape, Billionaire Boys Club, and the list goes on. Aside from their partnership, both Adidas and Pharrell are pushing fashion envelopes working on other projects. Pharrell teamed up with Uniqlo to launch a collection in association with his I AM OTHER collective. The collection will include t-shirts and caps for both men and women and is available mid-April 2014. Adidas is not new to signing on big names for collaborations. They have worked with Stella McCartney, Yohji Yamamoto and they recently shook the fashion world up when they announced back in December that they would be partnering up with Kanye West. The fans are excited to see what both of these fashion icons produce with the German Sports Brand. Who do you think will push the fashion envelope more between Pharrell and Kanye West? If you could have either one style you, who would you choose?
